ABBASID: Abu Musa Al-Amin Muhammad (809-813), silver dirham (2.89g), Al-Muhammadiya (Tehran) mint, AH 193. "Rabbi Allah" ("my lord is Allah") in upper reverse field. A-221.1. Extremely fine. Scarce.
Similar to the other pieces published online, the style is somewhat crude and could point to the possibility that they were originally western imitations from North Africa, as is the case for the well documented imitations of Madinat Al-Salam dirhams, though one of the examples is reported to have been unearthed in Smolenskaya, Russia, so another possiblity is that this specimen is an imitation struck north of the Caucasus.
