A yueyachan or “monk’s spade” Chinese pole arm. While it is thick and heavy, the cutting edge is unsharpened so this was probably a ceremonial rather than a fighting weapon. Beautifully carved brass bats adorn either side. 18th century.Great condition with slight toning to metal. Wooden shaft is old but probably a latter replacement. Pole head measures 33” long and 10 ½”wide at top, overall length with pole is 83”. Est.: $900-$1,000.
