A wood with ivory netsuke of Seiobo.
Mid 19th century. Standing and holding a peach in her hands, the head and hands are in ivory and, when the piece is separated at the waist, the hidden lower part of her body is revealed to also be carved from ivory with the pubic area detailed. The himotoshi are placed with one on each half of the body so that the cord will hold the two halves together. Unsigned. A nearly identical example illustrated in Davey, Fig. 1215. 3 5/8in (9.1cm).
