A very RARE pictorial metal head button
1 Medium oval early 19th century button made of BERLIN Iron. Here is a true rarity in buttons as one of the only examples to ever surface in this material. There are rare examples found in jewelry but certainly not in buttons. When the consignor purchased this button over in Europe she purchased it from a known expert in the field of Berlin Iron Jewelry and was certainly excited to acquire such a rare example in buttons. The small oval button is centered with a mirrored background to the very detailed mans head. Berlin Iron is a cast iron that was produced in Berlin Germany in the early parts of the 19th century. Because no one has seen a Berlin Iron button surface previously we find this certainly hard to place an estimate on so therefore the sky could be the limit on such a rarity and find in the button world.
