A very RARE division one under glass scene button
1 Medium size 18th century painting under glass set in GOLD!
This is a button to not pass by. This incredibly detailed scene is showing a person playing a horn while another person is holding a hoop for the Dog to jump through, and another person laying on a rock watching in anticipation. This beautiful example of 18th century craftsmanship was obviously designed at a time when the Josiah Wedgwood examples were quite popular, as this painting on natural material imitates the coloration and style of Wedgwoods fine work. This example of hand painting is set under a crystal clear shield and set in genuine gold. Notice the border around the scene which is the gold under the scene and is chased to give the scene a beautiful framework. This is truly a remarkable and rare example. The consignor said that the button has been tested to be 18kt gold. We have never seen another example like it or from the set that it most likely would have come from.
