A single barrel .600 under lever falling block big game rifle, by Westley Richards, No 309, the file cut rib of the 25in. sighted barrel engraved at the breech, Henry"s patent rifling, with lower ramrod and pipes with sling eye, the blued action engraved with a lion on the left and a Hyena on the right, amongst foliate decoration, the under lever off set to the right, locking side lever, the walnut half stock with chequered detachable fore-end with horn tip, silver bolt escutcheons, chequered pistol grip, split and repaired at the hand, a spurious silver plate on the butt reads "Edwin Landseer from his true friend Victoria R" re-blued action and barrel proved for black powder only proof and certificate exempt £750-800 See Illustration.
