A poignant Great War Family Group of Medals - East Africa MC Group of four to Chaplain Elijah Cobham, East African Military Rifles, Military Cross, 1914-15 Star, BWM & Victory, with memorial Plaque and Scroll. Rev Cobham died of wounds on 19th Sept 1917. With War Office typed notice 'He met his death in attempting to bring in wounded under heavy fire. He had already rescued two men and was shot whilst bringing in a third. An Officer who exercised a great power for good over all ranks, and one who could ill be spared' + typescript Column Routine Orders by Co G M Orr, commanding No 1 Column Hanforce, Warungombe, dated 4th Sept 1917; Together with his Cheque Book, a Letter from him to his father, a Letter from his sister to him and other relevant items. Pair to Lieut Frederick George Brian Cobham, Cambs Regt, BWM & Victory, with Scroll. Lieut Cobham died of wounds on 8th August 1918 near Morlancourt (Somme). With his Army Book, Identity Disc, Pocket Bible & Letters to his sister inc one dated 3-8-18 + Letters to his father from Commanding Officer & others re: his death & other relevant items. All Medals in mint condition and in Boxes of issue £ 600-800
