A pair of early Victorian gilt and silvered bronze candlesticks, the shaped bases applied with three doves rising to foliate stems, 8.5ins A related pair of candlesticks with three swans around the base rather than doves was in the collection of the Earls of Rosebery at Mentmore, sold Sotheby's May 1977, lot 67. The same triple swan base also appears in larger form on a table by George Morant at the 1851 Great Exhibition, vol. II, pl.34. £600-800
