A majolica plate, late 16th/early 17th century, Duchy of Urbino or possibly Pesaro, decorated with central roundel of a putto 21cm diameter £300-500 See: "La Ceramica Rina scimentale Metaurense", ed. Don Corrado Leonardi, cat 81, p99 (Rome, 1982) for a similar figure of a putto, attributed to Pesaro. See: "Maioliche del Museo Civico de Pesaro", Maria Mancini Della Chiara, pl. 300 (Bologna, 1979), attributed to Duchy of Urbino. See also the above, cat 50, for a Castel Durante dish dated 1579. The general layout of decoration on this plate helps date the present piece to late 16th or early 17th century.
