A magnificent Scottish Central Railway cast-iron lamp post with its ladder bars clearly cast on both sides “Bridge of Allan Stn”. A fluted post 9’2” tall with its “Shotts” casting-plate. Platform-fitting style with a square base, and in fine original condition. Early and special. Note Bridge of Allan station, between Dunblane and Stirling, was opened by the Scottish Central Railway in 1848 and closed in 1965. This lamp-post almost certainly dates from the opening in 1848. The Scottish Central Railway was amalgamated with the Caledonian Railway in 1865. (See Lot 212).
