A late Victorian footed cylindrical ice bucket, with opposed engraved heraldic devices on a frosted ground, one with motto "Bonis Omnia Bono Vires" opposing motto "Arma Parata Fero" (the neck with minor paint spots, the body and base with very minor scratching) 16.5cm diameter, 16.5cm high £120-180 Note: Bears the arms of Campbell of Lochnell. The quarterings are: 1 & 4, Campbell: 2, Gordon: 3, Lorn. The family were flourishing in 1821 (Burke"s Landed Gentry of that date) The arms are for Beck. Justus Beck was created a baronet in 1714 (the first creation of George 1). He was succeeded by two sons who both died childless, and the baronetcy became extinct in 1764. There was a daughter, Rachel, who would have become an heraldic heiress if she survived her brothers, and her husband (if she were married) would have been able to place them in pretence. Children of the marriage would have inherited her arms and been able to quarter them, but the arms would not have had any status on their own. If a Campbell of Lochnell had married Rachel Beck, their armorials might have been used to decorate the glass.
