Inscribed Homin. This is(?) the artist described on pages 188-189 of the MCI where FM says "Tokyo. Worked 1850-80. About a dozen netsuke recorded by this carver. Tokyo, Mid 19th century. , Mid 19th century. The first, Seated doing bekkako while a large Beshimi mask is attached to his back. The mouths of the karako and the mask are reinforced with red. Inscribed on the underside. 1?in (3.5cm). The second, two karako engaged in catching goldfish from a bowl. Inscribed on the underside. 1?in (3.3cm). Provenance: The first, Purchased in Tokyo, 1951. The second, Purchased from R. Koscherak, 1951.
