Tokyo, The first, by Jugyokusai Gyokumin, mid 19th century, Umimatsu in the form of a recumbent bull with ivory inlaid eyes. Signed on the underside, Gyokumin, plus kakihan. 1?in (4.4cm). The second, attributed to Gyokusai, mid 19th century, ivory in the form of a Samurai or Ronin with sword over shoulder and luggage hanging from it, unsigned. 1?in (4.7cm). The third, attributed to Gyokko(sai), early 19th century, wood in the form of a seated worker tweezing his whiskers with metal tweezers. Signed on the underside, Gyoku-ko. 1?in (3.2cm). Provenance: The second, Shares design characteristics with a Monkey Trainer signed by Gyokusai and illustrated in Bushell's Collectors Netsuke as No. 206. May thus be attributable to Gyokusai.
