A group of four wood netsuke.
Mid 19th century. The first, a man sitting on a low stool and playing a Shu. 2 1/8in (5.6cm). The second, an ash tray netsuke carved in imitation of a woven basket, with an old collector/dealer label with the number "167". 1 3/8in (3.6cm). The third, an Uji ningyo, the souvenir doll representing a Tea-Picker from Uji, the face, hands, and base have been left clear, the rest has a brightly colored matte lacquer finish. 1 3/4in (4.4cm). The fourth, a man embracing a large carp, the carp is on its back and they are face-to-face. 1 5/8in (4.2cm). Provenance: The second, Ex Beasley collection.
