A group of four metal netsuke.
Mid/late 19th century. The first, a solid brass mask of Ebisu, attachment by a small cross-bar on the back. 1in (2.6cm). The fourth, a late 19th century brass hand-warmer netsuke in the style developed by Kyubei,the ends etched with a dragon design, the sides with a design of bamboo. 1 3/8in (3.6cm). The second, a shakudo Taiko drum shaped tobacco-ire, the sides with a thick gold damascene design of clouds, 1 1/8in (2.7cm). The third, a shakudo miniature yatate, with gold inlay of flowers and butterfly. 2 3/4in (6.9cm). The fourth, a brass hand warmer in the style of Kyubei, top is reticulated and hinged. 1 3/8in (3.6cm). Provenance: The second and third, Purchased from Raymond Bushell 1960.
