A fine mid 19th century papier mache secretaire cabinet by Mccallum & Hodson, with fall front enclosing mahogany fitted interior, mid drawer and two glazed doors, below on bracket feet, the lid painted with an oval panel of Windsor Castle and the fall front with Kenilworth Castle, the rest of the cabinet is profusely inlaid with mother of pearl and painted and gilded with flowers, width 2ft 5ins height 3ft 6ins McCallum & Hodson (1846-1920) Summer Row, Nr Town Hall, Birmingham, renowned makers of lap desks, face fans and blotters. this piece would have been one of the most important and largest pieces produced. £8,000-10,000
