A fine collection of personal items belonging to George Bourner, one of Queen Victoria's coachmen at Osbourne, Isle of Wight including his contract of service from 7 March 1845 complete with red seal and signed by Ailisbury, Master of the House (af); his personal coachman's whip, the brass handle embossed with the VR monogram; a cabinet photograph by Hughes & Mullins of Ryde depicting Queen Victoria alighting from George Bourner's carriage to her private chapel with coachmen & assistant in attendance; a rosewood framed photo of John Brown; a rare rosewood and gilt framed bullion royal cipher; a good photograph of George Bourner on a carriage in glazed gilt frame; a framed photograph of Queen Victoria; a copy of "Leaves from the Journal of Our Life in the Highlands", London 1868, signed and inscribed personally to George Bourner by Queen Victoria; a copy of "Further Leaves from the Journal of Our Life in the Highlands" signed and inscribed to George Bourner and dated Osbourne, Feb 12 1885; Volume II of "Lord Beaconsfield, his Life and Times"; two shoe brushes both stamped with the VR monogram under a crown; two monogrammed decanters and a kitchen knife from the staff quarters of Osbourne A letter of provenance from the vendor, a direct descendant of George Bourner, accompanies this lot.
