1 Medium size late 19th Century Japanese Shibayama example. This example is not your modern example of this fine Japanese craft, this is one of the old examples dating back to the late 19th century when this technique was first introduced in buttons to the western world. The technique of this type of inlay is named after a Japanese artist of the 18th century however there are no examples of this work in buttons until the late 1ith century, as is the case in most Japanese techniques when it comes to buttons as the Japanese only made buttons for the western world.
