A division one Art Nouveau style enamel button
1 medium size 19th century Guilloche & Emaux Peints enamel. Here is a striking and stunning example of enamel work during the Art Nouveau era. The central design of the Iris flower was executed in the Emaux Peints technique (hand painted) and bordered by multiple Ginkgo Leaves in raised silver and then further framed in the Guilloche (engine turned) technique. The button is backmarked Sterling and is in fine condition. A great addition to your collection. You can learn more about these enamel terms in a new book titled Enamel Buttons by Karen Cohen.
