A chaise longue Model No. 2072, designed by Le Corbusier - Pierre Jeanneret - Charlotte Perriand, 1928, manufactured around 1935 by Embru, Rüti/Switzerland as a Thonet licence product, chromium plated tubular steel, black lacquered metal base, original red "Eisengarn" textile seat, remains of cowhide covering, reeded rubber hose, felt caps, length 157.5 cm, width 53.5 and 41.5 cm resp., base: length 90 cm, width 48.5 and 53.5 cm resp., tube diametre 25 and 20 mm resp. (horizontal stretchers) Original condition. In 1993,Thonet entered into a licence agreement with the Swiss company Embru for their manufacturing programme of metal furniture. As was also the case with several other models, Embru modified the original design: While Model No. B 306 manufactured by Thonet Frères featured drop-shape section stretchers in the base, Embru used more inexpensive square section stretchers. Nevertheless, the chaise longue marketed as Model No. 2072 still was by far the most costly piece of furniture in the Embru programme of that period. Lit.: Über Möbel.
