A beautiful Roman bronze ewer, c. 1st Century AD, the body of inverted piriform shape with splayed foot, the narrow neck ending with a wide pouring spout, the top of the handle in the form of a woman's torso with two animal headed terminal, the base of the handle in the form of a draped female torso, a ladle on her right hand. A very attractive piece with thick green patination. H: 9 1/2 in (21 cm). Ex-Ernest Freemark collection formed 1913-1915; ex-R. Knickerbocker family collection, NY.
