A William & Mary walnut chest on stand, circa 1685, oyster-veneered and holly banded, the moulded top line-inlaid with circles and semi-circles, over two short and two graduated long drawers with brass scrolled drop handles and pierced escutcheons, the sides inlaid with yew lozenges within wide holly bands, the stand raised on spiral-turned supports linked by shaped flat stretchers, on later turned feet (stand possibly later), H 3ft 3.5ins W 3ft 0.5ins D 1ft 11ins Note: see the similar example from Bourne Park, Kent, plate 14, page 202 Edwards, Ralph - The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture. £8,000-12,000
