A WORKSPLATE "Sir W G Armstrong Whitworth & Co (Engineers) Ltd. No. 1259. 1935. Scotswood Works Newcastle-On-Tyne". As carried by the LMS Class 5 4-6-0, 5404, which became BR 45404. Latterly a Willesden, Speke Junction and Longsight engine, it ended its days at Trafford Park from where it was withdrawn on 6th May 1967 to be cut up at Cashmores of Great Bridge in November. Rectangular cast brass, 8 1/4"x5", face-polished and repainted with an excellent repair to one bolt-hole.
