A WORKSPLATE "Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns Ltd 7512 Darlington Works 1950". As carried by the (LNER) Class L1 2-6-4T 67778 that emerged from Works on 1st February 1950. One of a class designed by Thompson mainly for heavy suburban passenger trains but they could also be found on express turns occasionally. Latterly a New England engine, it was withdrawn on 4th May 1962 and cut up at Darlington. Hexagonal engraved brass, 11 3/4"x5 1/4", face-polished only.
