A WORKSPLATE “London North Eastern Railway Co. No. 1703 Doncaster 1928”. As carried by the LNER A3 Class 4-6-2 built at Doncaster as Works No. 1703, emerging to traffic on 24th December 1928. It was named “CORONACH”. It became LNER 2747; 93 from July 1946; 60093 from September 1948. A longtime Carlisle Canal engine, it was withdrawn from there on 24th April 1962 and cut up at Doncaster in May. Oval engraved brass, 13¼”x7½”, face-polished only. The ex-loco back is clearly stamped “2747” (twice) and “93” (twice). A fine example of a ‘fully-cut’ worksplate.
