A WORKSPLATE “John F. Wake Geneva Engineering Works Darlington”. Oval cast brass, 12”x8”, in ex-loco condition. John Wake was a dealer in locomotives and other machinery. He often fitted plates like this to locomotives passing through his hands. Occasionally he rebuilt locomotives, and some of these plates are known to have numbers on them making them traceable to a particular locomotive.
