A WORKSPLATE "Beyer Peacock 6681 Manchester 1931". As carried by the GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT 8701 that emerged from Works in February 1931 under Swindon Lot 273 at a contract price of £3,067. Initially allocated to Kidderminster, she moved to Gloucester in 1935, Hereford in 1952; Lydney in 1959; and finally Gloucester again in January 1963 from where she was withdrawn in March after running 644,755 miles in service. She was cut up by John Cashmore Ltd, Town Quay, Newport, Mon. Oval cast brass, 9 1/2"x5 1/2", polished and repainted a long time ago. Supplied with a polished wood display plaque.
