A WORKS NUMBERPLATE “London & North Eastern Railway 61215 N.B. Loco Co. 1947”. As carried by the LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 1215 “WILLIAM HENTON CARVER”, built at the North British Locomotive’s Queens Park Works as Works No. 26116. It emerged to traffic on 19th July 1947, and became BR 61215 on 30th April 1949. Latterly a Hull Botanic Gardens, Hull Dairycoates and Ardsley engine, it was withdrawn from there on 8th March 1965 and cut up by Drapers of Hull in May. Oval cast brass, 9”x5” in totally ex-loco condition still retaining its original BR metal tag. William Henton Carver was an LNER/BR Director from 1927 until his death on 28th January 1961.
