A WORKS NUMBERPLATE “London & North Eastern Railway 4480 Cowlairs Works 1908”. As carried by the ex NBR Class B 0-6-0, NBR 193, built at Cowlairs in December 1908. Designed by Reid these 0-6-0’s were used mainly on freight duties. This one became LNER 9193 Class J35/1 from June 1924, was superheated in April 1936; became LNER 4480 from May 1946; BR 64480 from April 1950. A longtime Dunfermline engine, it was withdrawn in September 1962 and cut up at Inverurie Works in October. Oval cast iron, 9”x5”, face-repainted only.
