A WORKS NUMBERPLATE "London & North Eastern Railway 5554 Rebuilt Stratford Works 1928". As carried by the ex GER Class J16 0-6-0, GER 1204, built at Stratford in December 1902. It was superheated in January 1923, became LNER 8204 J16 in 1924; 5554 in May 1946 and BR 65554 in March 1952. A longtime March engine, it ended its days at Stratford from June 1961 where it was withdrawn in September to be cut up in the Works in October. Oval cast brass, 9"x5", unrestored.
