Having a plain cove-molded cresting with five small and three graduated wide lip-molded drawers in the upper case, the lower case with one wide and three varisized drawers below on plain cabriole legs raised on claw and ball feet. All drawers with large pierced batwing brasses of the period.
W. of lower case: 40 1/4, h: 77, d: 22 1/2 in.
PROVENANCE:
A typed note inside upper left hand drawer inscribed "Came from Wakefield at Logan Station, the Fisher home of my grandmother's family." The line of descent for this high chest is Sarah Logan Fisher (1751-1796) to William Logan Fisher (1781-1862) to Mary Rodman Fisher Fox (1853-1918) to Joseph Mickle Fox to Eliza Middleton Fox Tilghman to Joseph Fox Tilghman to present owner.
