Pre-Columbian, from ancient Peru, ca. 400 - 100 B.C. Redware pottery double-chambered, bridge-spouted whistling vessel having frontal chamber modeled in the form of a sitting bat with its hands held tight against the chest. Entire piece is decorated in geometric patterns, showing traces of eggshell. Whistle is in working order. 10"L x 3-1/2"W x 7-1/2"T, intact/generally excellent, save typical surface wear.
