A Very RARE division 1 jeweled copper button
1 Large 18th C. engraved brass coated copper with colored pastes. This is an incredible button from the collection of Harry Case of Missouri who had compiled what many believe was the best ever 18th century copper collection on the world. We have been selling his buttons over the pat two years and this very rare example can now be yours. The button is engraved on the front with an array of small flowers in between the purple and clear pastes. 18th century coppers with this kind of OME is quite rare. Believe it or not many years ago the Page button auction one of these examples, just like this one, and I was actually on the phone to bid, Margaret McBride, (co-owner of Page) asked me did I want to bid $10000, I thought she said $1000 and I said yes, but she repeated the number to me and I said OH, NO. The button sold for $9500 plus the buyers premium bringing the final price with tax to almost $11000. If you don't believe me there are several people that remember this. However I have not seen another example since that time until acquiring Harry's collection for sale. If you want a truly incredible copper button from the 18th century here is your opportunity, that may never come up again.
