Pre-Columbian, Remojadas Style, Classic, ca. AD 300 - 900. Tall male figure in buff clay blackened with chapapote; with applied eyes, holding a club in both hands, wearing a helmut with chin strap and projections, ear spools, loincloth, arm and leg bands. See "Ceremonial Sculpture of Ancient Veracruz" #64 and #65 for type. An impressive 21.5" tall! Arms, staff, rear tripod leg and one side of the top of the headress professionally rejoined otherwise excellent condition.
