A VERY RARE PAIR OF USAGE/UNIFORM BUTTONS
2 Medium size 19th century incredibly RARE Slave buttons. Here are two buttons that do NOT come up for sale and although they represent a part of our history that many want to forget and certainly should put behind them, they are still part of the history of America, no matter how wrong the time of slavery was. These two buttons are from the home of the Famed southerner Jefferson Davis who was President of the Confederate States of America from 1861-1865. These two buttons WERE worn by slaves on his plantation, one is engraved the "SERVANT" and the other, the "DOOR MAN". Davis's plantations name is also engraved on the button BRIERFIELD. These are extremely hard to put a price on as they have not come up before for sale except this pair that Jeff acquired many years ago. These buttons are engraved and dated on the back as well.
