Extremely rare, signed original edition copy of 'A Trip to the Rainbow Arch' by W.D. Sayle, published 1920. The book chronicles Sayle's journey through the American West towards the Rainbow Arch (now known as Rainbow Bridge National Monument) near the Arizona-Utah border. Sayle's journey took him through several other iconic Western landmarks such as the Painted Desert and the Grand Canyon, as well as on a diversion through the Navajo Indian Reservation, where he described the Navajo as "the most hospitable people in the world". An excellent portrait of the American West in the early 1900s.
Only a few original copies of this book are known; most existing copies are from a 1999 reprint run. This signed original is hardback w/ gilt lettering on cover and illustrated throughout with good quality B&W photos. Great condition; no damage aside from some very minor cosmetic wear on front cover and spine. See photos.
