(Disneyland, 1998) A plaque installed at the entrance to Tomorrowland and dedicated during the Grand Re-Opening Ceremonies of Tomorrowland on May 2, 1998. The plaque features a portion of Walt Disney’s dedication speech spoken during the televised Premiere, on July 17, 1955. The text reads: "TOMORROWLAND"--A vista into a world of wondrous ideas, signifying man's achievements… a step into the future, with predictions of constructive things to come. Tomorrow offers new frontiers in science, adventure, and ideals: the Atomic Age, the challenge of outer space, and the hope of a peaceful and unified world." Measuring 11.25" x 15" x 2", the piece is in good condition, missing its "T" medallion, and exhibiting scuffs, scratches, patina, verdigris, and wear from its original Park display, handling, and age.
