A Streetcar Named Desire (Warner Brothers, 1951). Six S A Streetcar Named Desire (Warner Brothers, 1
A Streetcar Named Desire (Warner Brothers, 1951). Six Sheet (81" X 81"). Marlon Brando became the movies' first rebel when he burst on the screen in 1950. Warner took note of his raw energy in the Broadway version of Tennessee Williams' play and signed him to reprise his role as a hungry, unsophisticated and misunderstood youth, ready to use his fists instead of his mind. The picture was "A Streetcar Named Desire," and the echoes of his cries for "Stella" can still be heard across America. Brando and director Elia Kazan were each nominated for Oscars and Vivien Leigh and Kim Hunter each won for Best Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively. This six sheet is completely different from every other poster for the film and it depicts Brando in his bullying stance over Blanche (Vivien Leigh). Many feel this is the best image for the film. The poster has pinholes and several small tears around the edges. There are some larger tears in the bottom right corner and the poster also has some small chips on the fold lines within the image. There is a Canadian censor stamp on Leigh's arm. While this poster does have some problems, it would restore on linen very easily. Fine/Very Fine.
