                    A South African brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “TAVISTOCK COLLIERY No.2”. As carried by the ex Central South African Railway 3’6” gauge 2-8-2 No. 709 built by the North British Locomotive’s Hyde Park Works as Works No. 16258 in 1904. It became SAR property in 1912 as No. 921 Class 11. In the late 1970’s it was sold to Tavistock Colliery, Saaiwater where it became No.2 “BLACK BEAUTY”. It was out of use by 1990 and offered in 1991 to the Railway Preservation Group at Wittbank. Oval cast brass, 22”x15½”, face-restored only. Nearly half of the class were transferred to industrial use.
