(Old King Cole, 1930s) A very rare set of animated display figures of the Three Little Pigs. When the Walt Disney Silly Symphony "Three Little Pigs” was released on May 25, 1933, it reached a level of popularity of epic proportions. The cartoon played in theaters for months, and the public clamored for merchandise. Old King Cole produced these animated figures of Fifer, Fiddler, and Practical Pig, which can be seen in motion in the company’s 1934 film reel of Christmas displays in stores nationwide. Fifer Pig’s head and shoulders rock, Fiddler’s right arm waves his violin bow, and Practical Pig lifts his trowel up and down. The three figures measure from 18” to 20” wide, and from 30” to 34” tall. The figures are in very good condition, with small scuffs, hairline cracking to the paint from age, and spots of wear to edges throughout. This lot requires special shipping arrangements. Please inquire before bidding.
