Angkor period c.12th Century AD, of rare museum quality with fine well defined features, sculpted from green sandstone in the form of a standing Ganesha with a human body and elephant head, holding an attribute in his right hand, possibly the top of a staff, his left hand holds a modaka, a ball-shaped sweet that symbolises supreme wisdom, even consistent wear, rejoined, smooth glossy patina, Cambodia, 43cm

Note: Ganesha is possibly one of the most popular Hindu gods in Cambodia from the pre Angkor period until well beyond. This piece is extremely rare, the original base is still intact and the sculpture is almost complete.
