A SPANISH BRASS-MOUNTED MIQUILET PISTOL, 18TH CEN.
A Spanish flintlock from the second half of the 18th century. The smoothbore is 11mm in diameter. Some pitting and rust along the barrel and lock mechanism, are to be expected of a gun of this age. Wood is worn, with a large chip at the front of the lock plate, and a crack on the opposing side. Decorative brass inlay across most of the pistol shows floral and animal designs, with some damage on the pommel, and a missing segment near the muzzle that once held the ramrod, which is also missing. Floral engraving on the lock plate and breech tang are visible and in relatively good condition. On the right side of the pistol are the initials 'TN' carved into the wood.
