A SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE "90460". As carried by the ex Ministry of Supply 'Austerity' 2-8-0 78649 built by Vulcan Foundry as Works No. 5050, emerging to traffic in May 1944. It went on War Department service in Belgium, then returned to be purchased by the LNER in January 1947 becoming LNER 3139 Class 07 in March 1947. Purchased by BR in December 1948 it became 90460 in April 1949. Latterly a Colwick, Immingham, Lincoln and Retford engine, it was withdrawn from there in June 1965 and cut up by Cox and Danks of Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield in November. The plate is face-repainted only.
