A SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE "6843". As carried by the GWR '6800 Grange' class 4-6-0 "POULTON GRANGE" built at Swindon in October 1937 under Lot 308 at a cost of £3,929 plus £1,008 for the re-conditioned tender. Initially allocated to Banbury, she moved to Tyseley in 1940; Carmarthen in 1955; and finally Llanelly in 1956 from where she was withdrawn on 26th February 1964 to be cut up by George Cohen Sons & Co, Morriston, Swansea. She had run 880,288 miles in service. The plate is face-repainted only. Poulton Grange is 5 miles east of Cirencester in Gloucestershire.
