A SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “6819”. As carried by the ex GWR ‘6800 Grange’ class 4-6-0 “HIGHNAM GRANGE” built at Swindon in December 1936 under Lot 308 at a cost of £3,929 plus another £1,036 for the tender. Initially allocated to Pontypool Road, she spent periods at Chester; Oxley; Birkenhead; Banbury; Pontypool Road from 1953 to 1964, and finally Worcester from where she was withdrawn on 18th November 1965 to be cut up by John Cashmore Ltd. Town Quay, Newport, Mon. The face is face-repainted with an ex-loco back except for the locomotive and owner’s name painted thereupon. Highnam Grange was a monastic building attached to Gloucester Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539.
