A SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “46157”. As carried by the ex LMS ‘Royal Scot’ 6P (later 7P) Class 4-6-0, LMS 6157, built at Derby in August 1930. It was named “THE ROYAL ARTILLERYMAN” in October 1930. Becoming BR 46157 it was shedded latterly at Nottingham and Saltley, and was withdrawn on 4th January 1964 to be cut up at Crewe in February. This locomotive was involved in the Bourne End crash on 30th September 1945 when the Perth-Euston sleeper derailed at excessive speed. The plate is face-repainted only, and accompanied by several photographs of the locomotive.
