A SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE "42371". As carried by the ex LMS Class 4P (later Class 4) 2-6-4T, LMS 2371, built at Derby in 1929 under Lot 53. A Fowler design for secondary duties but they sometimes handled expresses most adequately. It became BR 42371, was a longtime Buxton engine, and was finally withdrawn in May 1962 from there, to be cut up at Crewe in July. Face-repainted only.
