<B>A SIOUX QUILLED SKUNKSKIN BAG<BR></B></I><BR>c. 1890<BR> <BR>the pelt decorated with natural and dyed porcupine quills on the neck, paws and tailspiece<BR><I><BR>Length: 29 inches</B></I> <B>Condition Report:</B> In overall good condition. On back, the skunk skin pelt has an obvious loss of approx. 8-1/4 x 2” of fur, with two pinholes from sewing. All beadwork is extant. There is some loss of quilling, notably in the large circle ornament on front and around the skunk front legs. The calico fabric lining is frayed and soiled along the bag’s slit opening. In small black ink “#52” is found on calico lining on upper left hand side.
