<B>A SIOUX QUILLED PIPE STEM WITH CATLINITE PIPE BOWL<BR></B></I><BR>c. 1890<BR> <BR>composed of an ash wood stem, one end wrapped with natural and dyed quills, decorated with a end with a <I>U-ma-ne </B></I>symbol, the T-shaped bowl with pointed prow and square panel on the shank<BR><I><BR>Lengths: stem, 16 1/2 inches, bowl, 6 inches<BR><BR></B></I> <B>Condition Report:</B> In overall good condition. Stem with two (2) sections (approx. 1” x 1” and 1” x 7/8”) of lighter colored wood. Approx. 3” x 1” area with light orange pigment. Porcupine qulling in very good to excellent condition, with no obvious abrasions or loss. Stem end where shank attaches is blackened and has black tape around shaft, possibly to firmly attach pipe end. Pipe has various scratches on left side, blackened bowl and partially blackened outer rim. Rim has small, shallow scratches of approx. 1/8” wide on both sides of bowl.
