<B>A SIOUX BEADED HIDE TOBACCO BAG<BR></B></I><BR>c. 1870<BR> <BR>the central panel decorated on each side with geometric motifs, sinew sewn and lane-stitched in numerous shades of opaque and translucent beads, a panel of rawhide slats wrapped with dyed porcupine quills suspended below, hide fringe along the bottom<BR><I><BR>Length: 38 inches overall<BR></B></I> <B>Condition Report:</B> Overall good condition. Hide with usual wear and moderate soiling and some stiffness. Approx. 5 puncture holes and one hole of 1 ½ inch diameter. Beadwork intact. Quill work on slats in good condition still vibrant color with some unraveling and loss, some staining, and one slat separated from fringe and one slat missing fringe.
